C corporation (C corp)

A corporation taxed under subchapter C of the Internal Revenue Code. C corps are distinct from S corporations (S corps) and limited liability companies (LLCs) because C corps pay corporate taxes on earnings before distributing the remaining amounts to shareholders in the form of dividends. In this way, the C corp and its owners are treated as distinct legal entities for tax purposes.
