Secondary offering

The sale of new shares by a company that has previously made an initial public offering (IPO). There are two categories of secondary offerings: a non-dilutive offering, which is a sale in which one or more shareholders sell all or a large portion of their holdings; and a dilutive offering, which involves the public sale of newly created shares.
