New Ventures Team Member Spotlight: Suzanne McNabb
I’m Suzanne McNabb, senior counsel in the firm’s New Ventures practice group. I work with private companies (middle-market and emerging businesses), investment funds, early-stage investors, lenders and individuals in corporate and finance transactions. Every day I help clients who need general corporate counseling, who are considering starting new businesses, who are buying or selling a business (family-owned, venture-backed or otherwise), who are looking to bring in a new partner or buy out an existing partner, or who need advice on financing a business via private investors, fund investors, venture-debt or traditional commercial debt. I am practical and a problem-solver by nature, and I enjoy helping our clients achieve their desired business goals.
I have three school-age children, so add chauffeur and professional spectator to my list of skills. I am an active volunteer at my children’s schools, and I interview high school seniors applying to Trinity College. I just rolled off as a board member of The American Red Cross Greater Cincinnati – Dayton Chapter (ask me about our Home Fire Campaign!) and active board member for The Cincinnati Country Club.
2023 Startups Streamlined Series
This past month we discussed data privacy compliance. Data privacy and consumer rights are growing concerns among the states, given the frequent adoption of new laws. While data privacy requirements are currently handled at the state level, companies must stay on top of newly passed legislation, how they differ and what applies to them. We explored the evolution and proliferation of privacy laws in the U.S. as well as their key differences and similarities. To view a recording of this program, click here.
Next month, Lindsay Karas Stencel will be joined by Tanya Nesbitt to discuss environmental greenwashing. You can subscribe to the Thompson Hine YouTube channel to catch up on all our past recordings.
Proud to be a Strategic Partner with Black Tech Week
On July 19, the Thompson Hine New Ventures team sponsored a curated networking happy hour in conjunction with Black Tech Week. We hosted conference attendees, clients and friends of the firm at Nostalgia Wine & Jazz Lounge. We had an amazing turnout with over 100 attendees stopping by to hang out, network and meet our team. The attendees represented a variety of industries, including venture capital, consumer tech, economic development, cleantech, health and wellness, startups, non-profits, fintech and private equity.
Black Tech Week is an inclusive, ecosystem-building experience driven by community and corporate collaboration. BTW connects investors, entrepreneurs, tech professionals and creatives across several days of curated content, social events and incredible energy. The event combines growth-focused content with strategic amplification and advocacy for tech entrepreneurs of color and brings hundreds of Black tech talent from around the world to experience what Cincinnati has to offer, to learn, to network and to be fulfilled by connecting with others.
