Data Insights – Heads up Founders: VCs are Open for Business in the Summer
Prevailing wisdom suggests that U.S. venture capital takes a summer hiatus, perhaps to tan and recuperate, or lounging on the beaches of Saint-Tropez or another exclusive locale.
But the data says otherwise! June and August emerge as robust months for completed deals (based on priced rounds data from Carta over the past five years).
July…well, let’s just say it’s a different story.
Of course, this only represents the month the deal was actually signed. The fundraising process precedes the signature date by several weeks.
Ultimately, trying to perfectly “time” the fundraising process is probably a losing battle. There are so many factors that dictate whether a VC will say yes to your startup, and the time of year is not a major one.
